Para Cuarto de Percusión ó un resto de instrumentos. (2016-2017)
The piece questions the linearity of time and leans more towards its conception in a cyclical manner. In this other mindset, events are constantly repeated but always in a different manner. The ending goes back to the beginning, the spiral moves outwards and inwards. For the premiere, instead of writing program notes, I decided to give the audience a couple of drawings I made. These drawings show the cyclical and spiral structure of each movement of the piece.
Fue un privilegio trabajar con mis amigos de Third Coast Percussion. Nunca me había sentido tan cómodo trabajando con un ensamble de esa reputación. La estructura de su programa llamado Emerging Composer Program [Programa para Compositores Emergentes] es tal que hay da de hecho la oportunidad de trabajar la pieza y de tener un diálogo amplio antes de entregarla. In 2019, the Spanish percussion ensemble Alxarq won the VII Chamber Ensemble Competition “Percute” with this piece in their repertoire. This competition is organized by the legendary Spanish percussion ensemble Amores.
