Technology is a great part of my creative process and throughout my work I have developed some tools. Below you’ll find a brief summary of some of them.
PPIEL (Percussion Performance with Interactive with ELectronics)
A flexible performance system for live processing, sampling, improvisation and lots of noise-making. It has been used to develop multimedia collaborations with video and dance as well as solo performances.
Garabato (Musical Gesture Generator)
This device allows the user to create musical gestures by entering parameters such as melodic profile, dynamic curve, and length. It was created using the CAC (Computer aided Composition) bach, cage, dada, packages for Max. I am currently using it for a piece to be written for the SPLICE ensemble. It also uses two Machine Learning tools to create specific timbral transformations and these are executed using two tools Wekinator and the ml.* package for Max.
Master Patch
This is a Max patch that I have used in many of my pieces. It was created having in mind the MVC (Model-View-Controller) paradigm that allows for a modular separation of the functions. Among the features it has it can be found: full implementation of presets throughout the patch , interactive routing system, flexible addition of DPS modules, automatic detection of signal to control signal processing inside each unit, etc. My buddy Thomas Echols has been using it for his performances too and it has been interesting to see him do it.
ScrubberJM
This is a M4L that needs to be controlled with a tablet running Mira, TouchOSC, or Lemur. The purpose of this tool is to allow the user to load their own samples and to perform with them by changing the speed and the pitch through a graphic user interface. This tool is part of PPIEL.
Soon to be downloadable for as a M4L object
