Nobody Can Do It Like Me!

I wrote this piece for the LA based piano duo Hocket from whom I had the pleasure to also write my piece Guajeos. This is part of a big project in which they commissioned 50 composers to write miniatures with the prompt #What2020SoundsLike. I couldn’t help it but think about not only about the mess 2020 had been but also about what had happened during the last four years. I took some of those nasty words being constantly heard on the media and set them to music, because to me, that’s what 2020 had sounded like. Perhaps not the best words, in spite of a well-known claim.
